Edith Head was an American costume designer, born in San Bernardino, California.
For over 50 years she designed the wardrobes for Hollywood film stars – defining cinema style from the golden era to the 1980s.
On IMDB Edith Head is credited as costume designer on 438 films.
She was originally a high school teacher, who took up art and discovered she had an aptitude for shapes, figures and outfits.
Her first motion picture work was for The Wanderer in 1925.
Alfred Hitchcock collaborated extensively with Edith Head, forging a relationship that lasted over 30 years.
She is also famous for working with a raft of female stars of the 40s and 50s, including: Ginger Rogers, Bette Davis, Audrey Hepburn, Elizabeth Taylor and Natalie Wood amongst many.
